Round One - Playdowns
The Cyclones got off to a slow start in the Alliance Playdowns this week.
The Bantam Cyclones started their playdowns Wednesday night vs the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs.
Game 1 saw the boys put in a good effort but ran into a hot goalie as Elgin took the the first game 4-1. Pataki got the only goal for the boys with 1:18 left in the game on an unassisted effort to make it 3-1 before the Chiefs added an empty netter.
Game 2 in Komoka proved to be no better. In a penalty filled affair the Chiefs got 4 power play goals on route to a 5-0 win.
Game 3 was do or die for the Cyclones and they hung in with a 2-2 tie. Ross Krieger opened the scoring with help from Brady Pataki and Bradley Maxim. Elgin battled back with 2 of their own to take the lead before Levi Tetrault tied it up on a feed from Krieger and Pataki. Despite good pressure the boys could not manage another keeping it a tie. Nolan Hakr stood tall in net with and excellent effort.
