Appeal Board Guidelines

The Chatham Kent Cyclones Appeal board is a separate identity from the Chatham Kent Cyclones board of directors.
The appeal board hears appeals brought forth from the Cyclone’s membership due to investigations, complaints and decisions rendered from the Cyclone board of directors. These decisions could range from suspensions and reprimands to removal of players/staff or parents from all Cyclone activity.

The process is that the player/parent/staff(defendant) must ask the appeal board to hear their plea or case. This must be done in writing within a week of the Cyclone board notification to the defendant. From the time of being notified, the appeal board will ask for evidence from the defendant and grievance director and/or parent liason or investigator. The appeal board will look at the evidence gathered and may seek to interview all parties involved at their own discretion. This process is given a time frame of two weeks from notification depending on holidays and permanent work commitments. The appeal board may suspend the Cyclone board’s decision, reduce the decision or agree to have it enforced. After the appeal’s finding, a written decision from the appeal board must be sent to the defendant and Cyclone board of directors.
