Series 4 underway.......
While the winds were blowing outside the rink this Sunday, the Cyclones were brewing up a storm inside as an intense rivalry began in game one of our new series.
Series 4 began with serious tempo as soon as the puck dropped. Team Black was focused after a crisp warmup and it didn't take them long to get on the scoreboard. Greasy Wheelz Anderson got them on the board as he and Dancin Rance Soney found themselves on a 2 on 0. Soney held the puck long enough as he approached Big Game Beeker then slid it over to Greasy Wheelz who went backhand shelf. Dancin Rance wasn't quite satisfied with a single goal lead and went chedda in tight to increase Team Black's lead. Bam Bam Cam Arnold tucked home his first of three on the day sliding one past the goal line while waiting on the backdoor. Team White seemed to find a little life with 5 minutes left to go and Alex Cobra Cassey turned on the afterburners as he flied through the neutral zone with some serious speed and with a slick little deke cut Team Black's lead to 2. White continued to put on pressure and just as they thought they were going to get another, Greasy Wheelz bailed out Downtown Brown by batting the puck out of the air and away from the open cage. Downtown Brown took over from there making a huge glove save and kicked one out, lower blocker side to secure the victory for Team Black.
Possibly satisfied with there effort in the first game, Team Black sat back and watched a little as Team White came out ready to rock and roll in the first 3vs3 match. The Spazmanian Devil, Paxton Mather got them on the board as he found himself alone in the slot tapping his stick. Curdog Currie went tape to tape and Pax gave Team White their first lead of the day. Momentum continued for White as Cobra Cassey sniped one five hole and Big Willy Stylez made a nice little move to his backhand on a breakaway increasing White's lead to 3-0. Greasy Wheelz dug into White's lead as he took a pass from The Big Easy Emmett Mather in the neutral zone and buried his second of the day on a breakaway. Tiago Boom Boom Rolo got into the action as he read a pass coming through the middle of Team Black's zone. Boom Boom picked it off and with slick precision buried one five hole from the top of the circles. Team Black was given an opportunity with 4 minutes left as Team White found themselves a man down. With the goalie pulled Black put on some heated pressure and old Bam Bam Cam took advantage, notching another cutting White's lead in half. Not going down without a fight Black continued to put pucks on net, however Big Game Beeker was up to the challenge and turned the remaining shots he faced aside.
Back to 4 on 4 action, which appeared to be Black's bread and butter. Crazy Legs Corneil got things going. After receiving a sweet little pass from Dirty Dangles Driedger, Crazy Legs put home a backhander upstairs. Black, looking to increase their lead watched Crazy Legs and the Big Easy make good on a 2 on 0 and Emmett tucked home a backdoor pass blocker side. Cobra Cassey then took over, looking to sink his teeth into Team Black. First he stripped Team Black at the blueline and slithered in putting one home, cutting the lead in half. Not satisfied yet, The Cobra picked a pocket and buried his fourth of the day, squaring the score at 2. With the hockey god's looking out for Team White, Sweet Mitts Hillsy found himself inside the blueline alone with the puck. Looking to let go his big shot, Hillsy sent one towards Downtown Brown and unfortunate for Team Black the puck deflected off a defender and tickled the twine. Game three finished with some pressure from Team Black, but again, Big Game Beeker was up to the challenge, enjoying the challenge put forth in front of him and leading Team White to another victory and giving them a 2-1 lead on the day.
Last game of the day, 3vs3 action, and Team black was determined to take this thing into overtime. Dancin Rance started things off with a slick little move, notching his second of the day. Bam Bam Cam finished his hat-trick off as he made a strong move from the corner, around the net and wrapped one home. Slick Stick Stevenson got himself on the scoresheet as he buried a quick snapper alone in front. Team Black put the nail in the coffin as Greasy Wheelz fired one on net, that bounced up and over Big Game Beeker. Looking to seal the deal Greasy Wheelz and Dirty Dangles followed the puck behind Row and made sure the puck crossed the goal line. Downtown Brown continued his stellar play, sealed the deal and earned his first shutout of the series.
Great start to what looks to be like a very competitive series.
