Clones Back in Action
The 09 Cyclones hit the ice on Sunday and the action didn't disappoint the crowd.

The Cyclone Cup Challenge was started up again on March 7th. The 09 Clones were split into two even teams and the near capacity crowd was on the edge of their seat the entire game.

Team White started out with a little more pep in their strides during the first 15 minutes of action. Dancin Rance Soney got them on the board with a nifty little move behind the net. Big Game Beeker wasn't sure which side the crafty forward was going to come out on and Rance was able to wrap the puck home on his forehand for an early 1-0 lead. Cobra Cassey got into the action as he ripped a nice little wrister that put Team White up by 2. Team Black started to sort themselves out and Curdog Currie snapped one home past Downtown Brown cutting the lead down to one with little time remaining. After some intense pressure and many opportunities Team White crushed Team Black's hope of any comeback with an empty netter by the Cobra.

Game 2 was a different story. Curdog was up to his old tricks again as he was presented a gift in the slot. Curdog made no mistake blasting one top coco. The big Easy, Emmett Mather got into the action as he sent home a nice shot, 6 inches of the ice, short side after receiving a cross ice pass from Slick Stick Stevenson. Seconds after the puck drop, Crazy Legs Corneil fired home a wrister from the top of the circle and Team Black was quickly up by 3. Curdog finished off the old hat trick as Big Papa Decook made a beauty sauce from behind the goal-line to Curdog waiting in the slot untouched. To finish things off, the Big Easy made it 5-0 when he found himself alone in the slot and pounded his second of the day home. Big Game Beeker, though not challenged that often in this 15 minutes, turned everything aside giving himself and Team Black a shutout in game 2.

The ice stayed slanted toward Downtown Brown in the third game as Crazy Legs Corneil buried home a rebound after Boom Boom Rolo hammered one from the point. Team Black continued to drive Team White back into their zone and Curdog buried another after Slick Stick Stevenson made a strong move at the blueline and delivered a nifty little drop pass. Perhaps the goal of the day came soon after as Curdog walked out of the corner around the top of the circle and spotted Crazy Legs Corneil on his strong side across the ice. Jake then found Slick Stick Stevenson parked at the back door and feathered a great pass right on to Colin's stick for a tap in. Greasy Wheelz Anderson made it 4-0 as flew into Team White's zone and was able to put back his own rebound. The fans came out of their seats as they watched Dancin Rance fly through the neutral zone only to be brought down as he approached the goal. Team White's arms went up in the air, demanding a call to be made and as the referee blew his whistle he crossed his arms over his head and pointed to center ice for a penalty shot. Soney, smile on his face like usual, came in on Big Game Beeker, made a move to his backhand and put an end to Rowen's shutout streak. Game finished 4-1 and it looked like Team Black was going to walk away with the first game of the series.

Game four saw more chances for Team White and the play seemed to even out. Both goalies stood tall in their cage keeping the game even through the first 8 minutes. Team White gained a little momentum as Bam Bam Cam buried a snapper upstairs where they keep the peanut butter after receiving a little drop pass from Crazyman Abbott.  Downtown Brown was at his best in this one and turned aside everything Team Black sent his way earning his first shutout post lockdown. The day was tied 2-2 in games, which meant, with 6 minutes left on the C clock in the corner of the rink, a five minute overtime session would be needed to settle things.

As the puck dropped, Big Pap Decook sent it back to Big Easy. Emmett made a strong move and powered towards the net only to lose the puck at the last second. Sweet Mitts Hillsy and Cobra Cassey grabbed the puck and headed down the ice. Hillsy slid it over to Cassey and as he approached the slot he changed his angle ever so slightly. With a little daylight Alex's eyes widened and he snapped his third of the day home giving Team White the win and the lead in the series.

The boys will be back at it on Sunday. Good tickets and seats still available.
