2nd Place Finish at the Irish South Bend Cup

The U14 Chatham Kent Cyclones came up just short after a hard fought weekend.
After being moved up to the 09 division and playing the 09 AA teams the 2010 Cyclones travelled to South Bend with a positive attitude and one goal in mind, to win the tournament. When all the dust settled and the final horn sounded the Cyclones came up 1 spot short in the finals. The boys battled hard and the coaches saw a lot of good things happen over the weekend! Some penalty trouble and mental laps
plagued the team but for the most part they were able to find a way to win.
Head Coach Brett Hope said "It was nice to see them to never quit. In a must win game 3 being down 1-0 early it would have been easy to fold and they didn't, they battled back and won 4-1 and then followed it up with a big 1-0 in the semi-finals. We had some players really elevate their games and stepped up in big times. We need to fix some defensive miscues and stay out of the box to really compete and play with some of these better teams."
The Cyclones are going to ride the wave of momentum they have now into Detroit this weekend for 2 Exhibition match ups with Belle Tire on Sunday. The following weekend they will return to league play action with a road game vs Windsor on Friday and home game Sunday vs Huron Perth.
"Really hope the kids are gaining some confidence and see how far they have progressed this season already. We took a really tough loss against London but every team will throw up a stinker at some point, ours is parked in the rear view and we are looking forward. Game by Game, Practice by practice we continue to work to get better and build our game for playoff time when it matters. We have some exciting games coming up with Belle Tire and then league play and then off to Hamilton for a tournament." Said Brett Hope
