Team Personnel, Roster, Minor Bantam, 2015-2016 (Chatham-Kent Cyclones AAA Hockey Association)

Derek is entering his first season in the Cyclones organization having coached the previous 3 seasons with the Kent Cobras 2001 AA team where he compiled a 113-50-27 record. His 2012-2013 Minor Pee Wee team reached the OMHA quarter-finals and were Bluewater Regular Season and Playoff Champs.  Before joining the Kent organization, Derek spent 8 seasons coaching in Tilbury and Lakeshore. In Tilbury, he coached Cyclones alumni Marc Tremblay (Wheatley Sharks), Blake Blondeel (Windsor Lancers) and Brandon Montour (Anaheim Ducks).

As a player, Derek played minor hockey in Tilbury until Bantam before moving on to play Junior C in Leamington winning a scoring title in 1988-1989.  He also played CIS hockey for two years at the University of Guelph before coming back to play Junior in Belle River and helping them advance to the Semi-Finals of the OHA Junior C league. Derek recently completed his HP1 coaching certification and is currently employed by the Lambton Kent District School Board where he teaches physical education at Tilbury Area Public School.  He has 3 children Dylan (23), Alexa (17) and Evan (13).
