Introducing U10 Head Coach Tim Verbeek
2025-26 Chatham-Kent AAA Cyclones U10 Head Coach Tim Verbeek is returning for his 2nd consecutive season at the helm.

Tim Verbeek is an incredibly passionate and hardworking person who has been fortunate enough to be around the highest level of game since he was incredibly young.  The passion he brings to the hockey rink every day is very rarely duplicated, and it is a result of the years of dedication to the sport that has given so much to him.
Tim grew up in a rural town, where he learned the value of hard work and dedication at a young age while growing up on the family farm.  That same work ethic that was cultivated on the family farm throughout his younger years, was seamlessly transferred into the sport that he has loved from the moment he first stepped on the ice at the age of 2.

As a player Tim was known for his hard working, tenacious attitude, and skill set.  He was a player who would never quit on a play and used mental fortitude to “will” his way through any challenge or adversity that came across his path.  Those characteristics were embraced during his 4-year tenure in the OHL, which allowed him to be a big contributing factor in the Barrie colts winning their first OHL Championship and being Memorial Cup finalists in 1999/2000.  Tim also utilized those characteristics throughout his 9 year professional career, where he had the privilege of being coached by several accomplished NHL coaches.

With his extensive knowledge of the game, drawing from his past experiences as a player, and the lessons he has learned from his former coaches, Tim is a coach who is dedicated to both player and personal development of each member of the team.  With continual player development in mind, Tim believes in pushing players out of their comfort zone to allow each player to grow and hone their skills, while at the same time he serves as a mentor for his players to help develop their self-esteem.  He has an innate attention to detail that allows him the ability to breakdown and utilize skill analysis, and he presents it to the players at age appropriate levels.  This allows the players to rapidly increase their skill sets, while at the same time building their self-confidence.

Tim’s dedication to the players he coaches has garnered attention from both parents and coaching staffs from surrounding organizations in the league over the past several years, which is a testament to his coaching philosophy and his player development process.

Tim also serves as the Cyclones Coaching Director.  He is looking forward to being the Cyclones U10 Head Coach and starting with a new group of talented young athletes as they embark on their AAA journey.
