2025-26 Chatham-Kent AAA Cyclones U12 Head Coach JP Brochu joins us for his inaugural season at the helm.
JP Brochu has been involved in the game of hockey on and off the ice his entire life. The Belle River native has made significant contributions to his community through sports and business. Brochu played junior hockey from 99 to 03 including stints with the Tecumseh Bulldogs and Leamington Flyers in the Western junior B league. In that time he was captain and co captain of the teams showing his leadership wherever he was involved. He has also spent some time helping Marc Cadotte with his coaching clinics over the last few years and runs a spring team for the 2014’s Lakeshore Thunder.
Beyond his playing career, Brochu is the owner of Brochu Construction a Belle River based company specializing in residential construction. His commitment to the local community is evident through his involvement with the Belle River District Minor Hockey Association where he currently serves as the head coach of the U11A team and holds a position on the board of Director at Large.
In 2022 Brochu Construction played a pivotal role in enhancing the locker rooms at the Atlas Tube Centre. The project aimed to boost team spirit and community pride by featuring new decals, colours, and designs that reflect the branding of Belle River junior Canadiens and Lakeshore Lightning. Brochu remarked “I saw this project as a unique opportunity to give back to the community and support the local hockey clubs”. Through his dual roles in business and sports coaching, JP Brochu continues to have a positive impact on the Belle River community.
Here is what Brochu had to say on teaching young kids :
“I feel its essential to focus on both development of their skills and their love for the game. Few key points to add to that are that my main goal is for them to enjoy the game as much as I still do. This includes developing the core skills and to master the basics as they are key to the building blocks for the future. Playing with confidence plays a key role in these young players mindset. Teamwork is an absolute must as well as sportsmanship on and off the ice. Work ethic and effort are a major component to everything associated with the game of hockey. So not only will we be competitive but we will make it a fun environment to be involved with day in and day out by staying positive with one another and building a solid trust with the group.”
