Series 2 has kicked off!
Series 2 started right where series 1 left off. Compete level very high again!
Game one started off with the ice slanted heavy toward Team White's zone. Big Game Beeker had to be on as over and over again Team Black hemmed Team White in their zone. I believe Downtown Brown had a chance to take a nap as Team White had lots of trouble trying to muster up any sort of offence. Dancin Rance Soney picked up where he left off last series connecting with a nice give and go with Curdog out of the corner that gave Team Black a 1-0 lead. Team White struggled to get anything going and Downtown Brown started off series 2 with a shutout.
Game two saw Team White able to get a few more chances and start to wake up a little. Downtown Brown was up for the challenge every time he saw action. Dancin Rance found himself flying into Team White's zone and went 7 hole (between the blocker and the body) to give Team Black the lead. A few minutes later Greasy Wheelz Anderson came in alone on a breakaway and made a strong move, backhand to forehand slipping one into the back of the cage, giving his team a two goal lead. Downtown Brown continued his strong play and shut the door earning back to back shutouts.
Game three the play started to even out a little bit. Team White was now awake and getting a few more chances. However it was Team Black that took care of a powerplay opportunity. Greasy Wheelz Anderson found himself tapping his stick alone in the slot as Team White was mesmerized by Team Black's puck movement. Making no mistake Old Greasy Wheelz buried another and Team White found themselves down again. As the clock ticked away, it looked like Team White would be shutout for a third time, but Big Willy Stylez and that new twig of his found a loose puck just inside the faceoff circle and went five hole to give Team White some life and a tie.
Game 4 saw the tempers flare a little as the boy's play became a little more intense and the battle level picked up. Team White, with a little momentum now got on the board first. Sweet Mitts Hill went top glove with a well placed shot on a two on one. Team Black fought back and it was Dirty Dangles Driedger getting in behind the White defense. As he barreled down on Big Game he saw a small opening in between his legs and snapped one home. Team Black picked it up from there and shortly after they took the lead as Dancin Rance buried his own rebound putting Team Black back on top. Team White pulled the goalie and as Team Black found themselves shorthanded Sweet Mitts Hill put Team White on his back and fired a howitzer from the point that went five hole and tied the game 2-2.
Great start to the series. Real good battle level and compete. Back at it Thanksgiving Sunday for Game 2. Throw the Turkey in the oven, come down for some big time action, back home in time to take out the bird, put back a feast and on the couch sleeping by 8pm.
