CYCLONES COME UP EMPTY IN SWING THROUGH WATERLOO AND CAMBRIDGE
The '06 Cyclones spent the weekend on the road in Waterloo and Cambridge coming up just short Saturday in Waterloo and dropping a tough game in Cambridge on Sunday.

SATURDAY VS WATERLOO WOLVES
After a lengthy delay to start the game, Jeffery MacKinnon got the Cyclones offense going early giving the Cyclones a 2-1 lead they would hold until a 3rd period Wolves rally left them just short of a victory.

MacKinnon, from Gavin Meriano a minute and half in provided an early spark for the Cyclones. MacKinnon would strike again at the 5 minute mark of the 1st on a feed from Cole Labadie giving our Cyclones a 2-0 lead. Less than a minute later the Wolves cut the lead in half and that is how it would remain until early in the 3rd when the Wolves would tie it up before taking their first and only lead of the game with 8 minutes left. The Cyclones would continue to pressure for the equalizer late in the period with several glorious opportunities missed as time ran out. Carter McCluskey with a strong game between the pipes earned the 'Hardest Worker' Hard Hat award.

SUNDAY VS CAMBRIDGE

Our Cyclones had front row seats on getting to the dirty areas to score as the Hawks were relentless in their efforts to get to the net and create traffic in front of Cyclones' goalie Jack Martin. It paid dividends as they would battle their way to a 7-1 victory over our Cyclones with not one of their goals coming much beyond the blue paint. Justin Ewald from Gavin Meriano was all the offense our Cyclones could muster against a sound Cambridge squad. Despite 7 goals against, Martin battled through the heavy traffic in front of him turning away several grade A scoring opportunities earning him the 'Hardest Worker' Hard Hat award, giving the goaltending duo of McCluskey and Martin a clean sweep of the award this weekend.

Next action for our Cyclones is next Saturday when they travel to Sarnia to take on the Lambton Jr. Sting.
