Cyclones Take 5 of 6
A three game weekend turned out to be a productive one for the Major Bantam Cyclones.
There are no easy games any more and the team came out prepared to battle for every point they could get.

On Friday night the team traveled to Essex for a late one against the Sun County Panthers. The boys came out flying and opened the scoring late in the first on a bullet by Brady Pataki. Ross Krieger and Nick Delyzer got the helpers. Pataki got his second of the game on a nice feed from Ross Krieger . Levi Tetrault drew an assist as well on the play. Sun County replied mid-way through the second. Brendan Harrogate restored the 2 goal lead with 5 minutes to go in the second period with help from Blair Derynck and Patrick Wright. Sun County tried to climb back in scoring 5 minutes into the 3rd. Nolan Hakr then shut the door to preserve the win. The first 2 of a possible 6 points for the weekend.
Saturday saw the Windsor Jr Spitfires come to town for a mid-afternoon tilt at the historical Memorial Arena in Chatham. Blair Derynck decided to take this game into his own hands scoring 3 on the night. He got his first one early in the first from Brendan Harrogate and Kyle Dawson. Windsor evened it up 5 minutes later. The line got the call again early in the second and Derynck stuck again from Harrogate and Patrick Wright. Ross Krieger gave the Cyclones a 2 goal lead with a little over a minute to play in the second on a beautiful feed from Nick Delyzer and Levi Tetrault. Bradley Maxim then went top shelf getting his own rebound with the helper coming from Matthew Jakubowski. The boys headed to the dressing room with a 3 goal lead to prepare for the 3rd. Windsor came out rejuvenated and tried to get back in scoring a minute apart to make it 4-3 with 5 minutes to go. Then Derynck said that's enough and put the game away completing his hat trick from Dawson and Wright. Joe Raaymakers had a strong day in net. Four points in the pocket - Two to go.
Sunday proved to be a tough challenge against the Panthers again who were looking to even the score after the loss on Friday night. Apparently Derynck kept the stick warm after Saturday and opened the scoring on a power play goal from Harrogate and Jakubowski. Sun County evened the score with 23 seconds to go in the first. The Panthers scored again in the second to take a one goal lead into the third. The Cyclones were beginning to show their fatigue of the third game in 3 days when the Panthers opened up a 2 goal lead in the third. Delyzer would have none of it as he got the Cyclones back into it with 3 minutes to play with Pataki and Krieger drawing assists. With 26 seconds to play Derynck struck again to secure the tie and one more point. Assists went to Dawson and Delyzer. Another strong performance between the pipes from Nolan Hakr.
5 out of a possible 6. Good weekend boys. Keep it up.
A special thanks goes out to Bill Maxim for making Saturday a glorious day!
