Oshawa Spirit Tournament a good challenge
Minor Bantams competed in the Oshawa Spirit Challenge over the weekend.

The Minor Bantam Cyclones would travel east this past weekend to participate in the Oshawa Spirit Challenge.

Their first game FRiday morning would see them face off against the Eastern Ontario Wild.  As both teams would feel each other out for most of the first period, the Wild would get a timely goal with just seconds left in the first.  Blair Derynck would tie things up for the Cylcones from Ross Krieger but before the second was over the Wild would get back their one goal lead.  With a scrape between the second and third the Cyclones would get a chance to re-focus and come back in the third with three unanswered goals.  Scoring were Ross Krieger, Patrick Wright and Brady Pataki with assist going to Nick Delyzer, Blair Derynck and Brendan Harrogate.

Game 2 later that afternoon would see the Cyclones playing another eastern Ontario team in the Ottawa Jr 67's.  Building on good first game the Cyclones would end the first period tied.  The second and third would prove to be a challenge as the Cyclones were on the board often but for penalties and not goals.  The Jr 67's would take advantage of their power plays and the game would end 8 - 3.  Scoring for the Cyclones was Brady Pataki with two and Nick Delyzer with one.  Assists went to Derek Hueni and Levi Tetrault.

Game 3 would have the Cyclones battle with the home team Oshawa Generals.  Nick Delyzer would get the Minor Bantams on the board first from Ben Nichols.  Brandon Brower would add another for the Cyclones in the second from Luke Van Rycheghem and Dark Hueni.  Taking a 2 to nil lead into the third the Cyclones would seal the victory with 2 more in the third from Kyle Dawson, assisted by Brower, Krieger, Kyle Fife and Brendan Harrogate.

Game 4 later that afternoon would see the Cyclone playing the Hamburg Hawks from Western New York.  Both sides would find the penalty box often and after having two goals called off by the ref the Cyclone would get
on the board with Kyle Dawson scoring from Ben Nichols and Harrogate.  Hamburg would tie up the game in the second to end the game in a tie.  The Cyclones would pepper the hawks with 52 shots but the Hawks tender would keep them in the game.

Good weekend by the boys, keep up the good work.
